The GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION OR THE GRE is a standardized test that is used to measure the verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills of students who wish to do their graduate studies abroad.

The test helps to assess the potential of the applicant for advanced study. The GRE score is used by Universities in different countries to select applicants. Students applying to these universities must submit their GRE scores with their application.

The GRE exam consists of 3 modules:

  • Analytical Writing
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Quantitative Reasoning

GMAT is a computer adaptive test (CAT) which assesses the analytical, writing, quantitative and verbal skills of students.

The maximum score in the GMAT is 800. Typically, students should aim for a minimum score of 600 to succeed in getting admission in a reputed university.

This computer-based exam focuses on day to day usage of the English Language as opposed to high-level English. It tests a candidate on the effective understanding of the English language on a day to day basis

HOW IS THE PTE SCORED?

The scoring in PTE is done from 10 to 90 with 10 being the lowest and 90 being the highest. Increments happen by 1 point. The grading scale showcases the test taker’s ability to read, write, speak and understand instructions given in English. The scores are also provided in a graph for easy understanding of the candidate as well as the areas of improvement.

TOEFL stands for Test of English as Foreign Language, and it is the most widely respected English language test that can help you in Universities, workplaces and immigration departments across the English speaking world use TOEFL to gauge English comprehension abilities of candidates.

The TOEFL test measures all four language skills that are important for effective communication speaking, listening, reading and writing. It reflects how language is really used with integrated tasks that combine more than one skill, just as in real academic settings. The integrated questions ask the test takers to:

  • Read, listen, and then speak in response to a question
  • Listen and then speak in response to a question
  • Read, listen and then write in response to a question

SAT is entirely a paper-based test. The maximum score for the test is 1600. However, the SAT score alone does not guarantee admission. It is only one of the factors that are considered in the admission process of a candidate to the graduate school of their choice.
