Update to UK rules for COVID-19 2022

header 1

As we may know that the omicron wave is reported to be subsided around the world, with countries getting back into normalcy with the re-opening and lessening of restrictions towards the COVID-19 pandemic.

With two years beyond the start of the COVID-19 since 2020, foreign countries like the UK have taken the first tentative steps in what is regarded as first sign of developed countries moving out of the pandemic phase and returning to pre-COVID normalcy. As quoted by Grant Shapps the Transport secretary of the UK,  “The UK has eased international travel measures for COVID-19 and now has one of the most free-flowing borders in the world – sending a clear message that we are open for business.”

In order to further emphasis this, the UK has changed travel rules that significantly lessen the burden on travelers especially fully vaccinated travelers and British citizens looking to plan a get away to other countries and come back this Mid Term.

These rules include:

  • Exemption of all testing requirements for eligible fully vaccinated arrivals to the UK, a simplified Passenger locator form 48 hours before departure is the only requirement.
  • Arrivals not qualified as a Fully vaccinated passenger now require a PCR Covid Test 48 hours before travel to the UK and PCR test on or before Day 2 after arrival to the UK.

These are rules have significantly lessened the burden of travel for international passengers and allows them to travel to the UK hassle-free without the requirement for testing and paying of the tests which can quickly add-up for the number of passengers travelling.

Isolation rules have also been significantly scaled down, with reports that the self-isolation period for testing positive may also be scrapped. Current rules require people testing positive to isolate for five full days, the rules ends on March 24.

With this in mind, Universities are also opening up to students for full-time face-to-face learning since the COVID-19 pandemic. Universities are also welcoming new International students looking for admissions into Top Universities in the UK.

Some Universities have opened up their applications for the Mid Intake for International Students in 2022, these include Universities like:

  • University of Bedfordshire
  • University of East London
  • University of Roehampton
  • BPP University
  • Coventry University

And many more..
