You will need to do the following before you begin your studies. Please follow the instructions carefully:

1. Download ‘Citymapper’ available on Android and App Store.  London’s official travel guide contains all transport routes and shows how much each journey would cost.

2. Your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) is the most important document during your stay. Please make sure you collect it on the date from the post office address mentioned in the UKVI visa letter. You’ll have to carry this letter and passport along with you to the post office. Please keep this carefully as this will be the official document that signifies your visa status.

3. Visit your University on your enrolment date. Make sure you don’t miss it as this can cause trouble later. Carry all documents including BRP, Passport, and CAS. You should get an ID card, a bank letter and a tax council certificate from your University.

5. In order to obtain your work permit in London, you must have a National Insurance Number where your working hours are recorded. Please contact 0800 141 2075 to apply for your NI number. You will be asked for your personal details. Please mention your name, date of birth, and address correctly. You can also visit their website at https://nationalinsurancenumber.co/

6.5. If your current address is the address where you’ll be residing for your entire stay, please visit your local GP to register under NHS. You can search for your nearest GP on https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-gp If you have successfully registered, you will receive your NHS number via correspondence (letter) on your address. You can always change your GP if you’re planning to relocate.
